Heat Exchangers

Heat exchangers transfer heat from one fluid to another, such as an air conditioner using a refrigerant to remove heat from warm outside air.

What are heat exchangers?

Heat exchangers transfer heat between two fluids. Classic types include concentric tube, shell-and-tube, and plate heat exchangers. Fluids may flow in the same direction (parallel flow), opposite directions (counterflow), or perpendicular to each other (crossflow).

Why use metal foam heat exchangers?

Duocel® metal foam has high surface area and encourages fluid mixing, which leads to better thermal transfer. As a result, heat exchangers can be redesigned with the same performance and a more compact form factor, or with the same size and higher performance.
